Your Therapist

Laura Poskochil, LMSW

  • Adventurer at heart. Therapist by trade. Homebody by choice.

In 2019, I knew my life needed a change of direction. I left my successful career, ditched my earthly possessions, traveled Europe, moved from urban Austin, Texas home to rural Southeast Nebraska, started a family, and opened a pumpkin patch.

My journey over the last several years has been to gain a deeper understanding of my most authentic self, to break free of limiting beliefs, fear of rejection and find a new way of being. Guess what, I’m still working on it. I view personal growth as a lifelong commitment and I would be honored to walk along side you as you chart a course for your future development.

I started Liberated Path LLC to help others who feel like they’ve gotten off course navigate life’s challenges and find a path that feels like they’re in alignment with a deeper purpose.

Together we’ll discover what it means for you to feel connected: connected to your self, to your values, your mind/body/spirit, and to your world. You don’t have to go to the same extremes that I did, but if you want to, I’m totally here for it and here to help you achieve it.

  • I have a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology from Baker University with a focus on cultural diversity.

I earned my Master of Science in Social Work from the University of Texas at Austin and worked for ten years with young adults experiencing homelessness.

Since 2022 I’ve worked primarily with families involved in the child welfare system.

  • I will tailor a therapeutic approach to fit your unique needs.

If you’re more of a doer and don’t like the idea of traditional talk therapy, we can use sessions to set goals and tangible steps or to practice mindful movement together.

If you prefer to process more, we can spend our time untangling the knotted threads of your thoughts and find a deeper understanding.

Throughout our journey together, we’ll be identifying your personal strengths and leveraging them to find solutions, acceptance and meaning within the context of your life.

I am trained in and will incorporate aspects of the following therapeutic modalities:

    • Internal Family Systems

    • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

    • Dialectical Behavioral Therapy

    • Solution-Focused Brief Therapy

    • Motivational Interviewing

    • Attachment Theory

    • Body Psychotherapy (Somatic)

    • Mindfulness Practices

Your Therapy

What to Expect

  • Deciding to seek out therapy is a big choice, I don’t underestimate the importance of the right relationship.

Contact me to set up a free 30-minute consultation. I’ll ask you a little bit about what brings you to therapy and what you hope to get out of it. You’ll have a chance to ask questions and see if you think we’ll be a good fit.

After the consultation, you’ll have the opportunity to book an intake appointment or continue your search for the best partner on your journey toward emotional well-being.

  • Don’t let the picture above worry you. Therapy isn’t always difficult! It can be challenging to change old patterns or to confront what’s holding you back at times but there will also be plenty of opportunities to celebrate successes, laugh, and find joy through a deeper connection.
